Dog Friendly Cabins - Porter’s Peak Adventure Getaway

Porter’s Peak Adventure Getaway is approximately 40 minutes from Halifax, Nova Scotia, but you’d never know it’s that close to the province’s capital city. Situated on over 250 acres, Porter’s Peak is an adventure lovers paradise.

Porter’s Peak offers year round, eco-conscious accommodations, with cabins and four season glamping tents. And, of course they are dog friendly! We stayed at the beautiful Down to Earth cabin. The cabin features a large private lot, with a fire pit, and large deck overlooking the lake. A short walk from the cabin leads you to the lake, where you’ll find a picnic table and beautiful dock. It was stunning when we visited in March, so I can imagine swimming or paddle boarding here in the warm weather would be amazing.

The cabin has amazing windows, allowing you to sleep under the stars while in the cozy comfort of the cabin. And when I say cozy, I mean it! The cabin is thoughtfully designed with cozy covers and a propane fireplace. And you can feel good while you are staying there, as Porter’s Peak is an eco-conscious, low carbon getaway!

It goes without saying that a dog friendly accommodation is a must for us, however Porter’s Peak offers more than just a place that allows dogs to stay. Porter’s Peak is an experience and it is perfect for dog owners. It’s not called an Adventure Getaway for nothing! As avid hikers, when we found out there are on-site and close by trails, we knew we wanted to experience Porter’s Peak. There is access to the Crowbar Lakes hiking trails on site. These trails offer a series of loops over a rugged granite landscape and offer hikes ranging from an hour to full day hikes. If you are looking to explore a litter further the Waverly-Salmon River Long Lake Wilderness Area is near by, and there are approximately 20 other hiking trails within 30 minutes from Porter’s Peak.
