Bluestone Chalet,  Dog friendly Vacation Rental in Nova Scotia

We love a good, dog friendly stay and were lucky enough to be hosted at The Bluestone Chalet, close to Windsor, Nova Scotia for a cozy winter weekend.

The large chalet sleeps up to six people and isn't just dog friendly, it's dog welcoming! When you check in with dogs there are provided dog blankets, towels, dishes and treats! The property is well off the road and private, with lots of space for your dogs to play. If you have a pup with big feelings about other dogs or people in their space, the chalet offers self check in and is secluded from nearby properties.

Inside the chalet is cozy and inviting. The primary bedroom, called "The Night Owl" has a queen bed, sitting area and a work space that overlooks the lake. This room also boasts an electric fireplace and projection screen for cozy movie nights. Across the hall, "The Nest" has two single beds, each tucked below a window allowing views of the starts. The third bedroom with a queen bed, known as "The Early Bird" is located on the main floor and is perfect of getting up to see sunrise without disturbing the rest of the house.

The decor is a cozy, unique take on lake life vibes and you will notice all sorts of little treasures. The seating area is perfect for watching TV on one of the streaming services available at the chalet, or for a morning cup of coffee.

If your vacation has to include some work, there is fast internet courtesy of Starlink. Aside from the work area in the primary bedroom, there is a large dining area with space to spread out and beautiful views outside the many windows.

The kitchen is full of anything you might need to prepare your meals while you are away. From the basics like plates and cutlery, to various kitchen gadgets. Perhaps most importantly, at least for us, there is a coffee maker so you can start your morning right!

If you are relaxing inside, pop a record on and enjoy some tunes while you check out one of the many games or puzzles at the Chalet. Not one to hang out indoors? Explore the property, check out the lakeside deck or head to nearby hiking trails. Moses Mountain is one of our favourites if you don't mind a steep walk. Looking for something a little more flat? Card Lake Provincial Park has a short loop trail and picnic park. The Chalet is also located nearby to the towns of Windsor and Chester, each with unique restaurants and shops.

Whether you spent the day relaxing or on an adventure, you'll want to finish it off with some time around the bonfire listening to the quiet sounds of the lake and forest. Bonus points if you make s'mores!
